"Bowls is a sociable game that can be played by a wide range of ages and physical abilities"
Learn to Play at Roundwood Bowls
Before making any commitment to become a member, non-bowlers and complete beginners are invited to sign up for our "Bowls Taster" programme. This involves 5 two hour coaching sessions run by qualified personnel of the English Bowls Coaching Scheme. This is a recognised programme which will take you through an approved syllabus.
Coaching sessions can even be programmed at times to suit you and there will be a maximum of six persons per coach at each session. Start with a friend or family member (but if you do not have anyone else to start with, you will soon make new friends).
You pay £3 for 2hrs and we will even provide you with bowls and shoes so there is minimal financial output until you are sure the game is for you.
A Club member wishing further coaching (what we call 'Improvers') to improve their technique, discuss tactical situations or address any other aspects of bowling with which they may have a problem should contact Brian Deakins, Barry Stiles or Roger Bassham.
Someone from outside the Club should telephone the Club number, 01603 865045, and leave a message if nobody answers the phone. Their message will be put into the coaching book and one of the above will follow it up to arrange appropriate coaching sessions with them.
